Ms. Yang

1st, 3rd, and 4th Grade Mandarin Teacher

Names: Ms. Yang, Yang laoshi (“Teacher Yang” in Mandarin)

Home base: Mountain View, California

Favorite things to do: Telling Stories to children and watching movies 

Favorite place in the world: Silk Road in China

 

Ms. Yang was born in China. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Anhui Normal University and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Guangzhou Teachers' University. In China, Ms. Yang taught English as a second language.

 

Since arriving in the USA, Ms. Yang has strengthened her teaching skills and has earned credentials for an American career in education. She received her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential and her BCLAD certificate from San Jose State University. She also obtained her Single-Subject (Mandarin) Teaching Credential.

 

From 2000 on, Ms. Yang has been teaching Mandarin to different levels in both private schools and public schools. Ms. Yang is passionate about teaching Mandarin. She enjoys seeing her students improve their Mandarin reading, writing, and speaking skills. Ms. Yang cherishes the experience of teaching Chinese in an authentic environment to her students. Through showing children the uniqueness of the Chinese culture, she hopes to open a door for them to continue learning Mandarin.

 

This is Ms. Yang’s seventh year at BCS. She continues to grow her enthusiasm and love for teaching Mandarin!
