Ms. Chen

Sharon Chen is thrilled to join the BCS team as a Mandarin teacher for the coming year. Sharon was born and grew up in China, where she earned an M.A. in Chinese Language. She also earned an M.S. in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University. She moved to the Bay area in 2004 from North Carolina and has served in different schools. She has had experience as a Mandarin Content Specialist (2 years) and Mandarin teacher with SFUSD (1 year) and CACC (8 years).

Sharon believes in an old Chinese saying: teaching through play. She enjoys working with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds and knows how to communicate with them and their parents comfortably and professionally. She is well organized, manages to make her classes interesting and keeps her students engaged. As she discovers each student’s personality and learning styles, she provides support to help them develop their potential and love for Chinese language and culture. Sharon honors her Chinese heritage and culture by teaching it to the world.

Sharon lives in Danville with her husband and daughters. She loves photography and uses her camera to record the beauty of the world.
